An Introduction by Timothy Borchers Has Already Given Her Essay

An Introduction by Timothy Borchers Has Already Given Her - Essay Example(Ritchie, J. and Kathleen Boardman 1999). bloody shame Daly alike published many written works, and her second book, Beyond God the Father is of real interest, as this scholar really considers God as a satisfying subject. Theoretical perspective In the book Beyond God the Father, Mary Daly lays out a systematic theology that is in line with the example commit by theologian Paul Tillich. Dalys work in the book Beyond God the Father is usually regarded as a foundational work in feminist theology. (Hoagland, S. L. and Marilyn Frye, 2000). She tries to explain and overcome andro-centrism regarding Western religion in this book, and utilizes a more playful writing style. She also attempts to rehabilitate discussions about God by emphasizing and critically building on the writings of existentialist theologians like Martin Buber and Paul Tillich in an effort to rehabilitate the liberation movement for women. Mary Da lys response to the argument that Jesus was a feminist that this was fine and wonderful merits more attention, as any religion or gospel that fails to promote the liberal humanity of women is questionable, unworthy of public assent. This one legitimate point that must be made in the issue of how the gospel connects with feminist theology. It is notable that the take up that it can help in unmasking a form of oppression that seems, knowingly or unknowingly to have been built into the very fabric of all society that we know much about is the reason why feminism and feminist theology is so significant. Although the publication of some of Dalys ideas were greeted with considerable religious cult and she was threatened with losing her job at Boston College, she was finally granted tenure after several months during which students protested vigorously and with widespread media publicity. This experience somewhat radicalized her views about the ponderousness of prevalent remote struc tures, led to her being transformed from a reformist Catholic into what can be considered post-Christian radical femininism. Daly also challenged the whole edifice of patriarchal religion. As she notes, the theological constructs and myths of patriarchal religion tend oppress one half of the human race and foster social structures that lead to racism, as hale as , as ways of thinking that bring about war and genocide through the legitimization of male superiority and displacement of evil towards females as the proto-typical other. (Daly, M. 1973) Daly rejects the supposition of God as a Supreme Being (static noun) rather than a Be-ing (active verb) and also argues against the general gender identification of God as a male. As she notes, to objectify God as a being, to hypostatize transcendence, is to envisage transcendent reality as finite. God then functions to legitimate the existing status quo. (Daly, M. 1973) Mary Daly put a lot of effort into breaking down some well known bou ndaries of critical theological thought. She was instrumental setting the stage for subsequent feminist theologians like Elisabeth Schussler Fiorenze and Rosemary Radford Ruether, who later began to come up with critiques of theology that helped in reshaping current Christian thought. Although many feminists are reluctant to speak of women or the experiences of women as a universal or

(Swisher, 2005)The topic of discussion in this report is Modern Portfolio Theory or Investment Theory, which may be defined as the concepts that revolve around educating an investor regarding the steps that must be taken in order to divulge a portfolio that will speak of rational choices and optimisation of financial resources. Before going any further, it is imperative to point out that investement brings a certain breaker point of speculation, especially in todays economic scenario where there has been a boom in the information transmission trends due to an increase in the number of people from various(a) quarters flocking towards investing in portfolios. This paper will endeavor to study modern portfolio theory (MPT), in terms of its variou s elements a deal Markowitz diversification, the efficient term as well as concepts like the Capital Asset Pricing Model, better known as CAPM. The tools used in the course of application of these concepts let in the Capital Market Line and the Security Market Line apart from alpha and beta coefficients which help measure mean, variance, risk and returns of the portfolio as a whole. To receive with, the paper will introduce the Modern Portfolio Theory as propounded by Harry Markowitz in the early 1950s, onward moving on towards defining the elements like beta, risk and return that are concerned with the various concepts of Modern Portfolio like diversification and Capital Asset Pricing Model or CAPM. (Swisher, 2005) The intorduction of the key elements before discussing and analysing the actual concepts has been carried out so as to ensure that there is full understanding of the tools that will be used in the study of the Modern Portfolio Theory. The paper will progress through a series of headings that are relevant to introduce new topics. These topics are linked with each other through the tools like beta, risk, return, mean and variance, among others. There will illustrations in terms of formulae and diagrams for all sections of the paper.Markowitz and Modern Portfolio TheoryModern Portfolio Theory has come up a practical mold for the measurement of the various trends affecting the portfolio market. As a body of concepts and tools, it is concerned with the identification of markets that have high return potential and those which have a strained risk featureor, so as to help the investor choose more wisely. At the same time, the modern portfolio theory also brings us face to face with the fact that it is equally concerned with varying combinations of assets to zero in on the favourable markets and customers. (Markowitz, 1952)Born in the year 1952, the modern portfolio theory was the brainchild of Harry Markowitz who recognise the need for a certain s et of parameters within which the obvious diversification trends may be

Major Theorists - Essay ExampleThis pool of guilt and pain is where creativity, which is closely relate to neurosis, comes from. Creativity is thus motivated by the need to express some of this guilt and pain in a more physical or external arena as well as the essence by which it is expressed.B.F. Skinner is one of the most well-known behaviorists, who believed that people were a product of the environment in which they were raised. Skinner suggested this occurred through operant conditioning as people were rewarded for approved behavior and punished for undesirable behavior. Rewards are thus seen as a means of strengthening behavior, even undesired behavior, while the failure to reward weakens these behaviors. In some situations, punishment can be interpreted as reward, such as when the ignored babe receives attention through punishment for bad behavior. Creativity is thus seen as a mere product of the environment working on the individual who possesses latent germinal talent. I f the environment does not reward creativity, the child will be less likely to engage in it. It is important for the child to have an adult model that demonstrates creative behavior before the child can envision this as a likely activity for them. This is because they see the rewards for the creative adult as well as receive rewards from this adult as they engage in their own creative efforts.Humanism rejected the ideas of psychoanalytic hypothesis of personality and creativity as a biological process and the ideas of behaviorism theory of personality and creativity as an environmental process and instead preferable to view creativity as a process in itself that provided individuals with the ability to discover their inner selves. In other words, creativity was an act of self-actualization. The main theorists of secular humanism are Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers.Maslow defined self-actualization as the tendency to realize our own potential based on our

Financial Economics 2012- Quantitative Methods II, Statistics Project - Essay ExampleThe CAPM gives an understanding about the kinds of finds that affect the return through assessment of these risks. The warning uses the important of a specific security, the risk-free rate of return, and the market return to compute therequired returnof an investment to itsexpected risk. The CAPM Model and its uses The formula for the beta coefficient of stock is given by Beta Coefficient of Stock (?) = ?rm / ?2m ?rm = the Covariance between the returns on asset i and the market portfolio ?2m = the Variance of the market portfolio This beta value serves as an important measure of risk for individual assets (portfolios) that is different from ?2m, it measures the non-diversifiable part of risk. It is an indirect measure which compares the systematic risk (risk which cannot be eliminated by portfolio diversification) associated with a companys shares with the unsystematic risk (risk which can be eli minated by portfolio diversification) of the capital market as a whole. If a beta value of 1 is obtained, the systematic risk associated with the shares is the same as the systematic risk of the capital market as a whole. ... = 0.016191667 - -2.205(0.006838583) = 0.03127. Hence the formula is given by MOBIL =0.03127 2.205 RKFREE Discussion of the regression equations The devil regression equations can be interpreted as follows The first regression equation can be concluded that a unit increase in the market portfolio results into an increase of the periodic returns of Mobil crude by 0.7135 units. Changing this into monthly percentages, a 10% increase in the market portfolio results into an increase of the monthly returns of Mobil Oil by 7.135%. In the second regression equation, a unit increase in return of the 30 day U.S. Treasury bills leads to a decrease of the monthly returns of Mobil Oil by 2.21 units. The bills are risk free and hence cannot be used to model expected retur ns. guesswork testing including Null vs Alternative Hypothesis The hypothesis to be tested in this analysis will employ a t-test. This t-test is used because we need to find whether there is a significant release between the means of MOBIL and MARKET, and between MOBIL and RKFREE. The test will determine whether monthly returns of Mobil Oil (MOBIL) and the market portfolio (MARKET) have a similar mean using a 95% confidence level. Hypothesis 1 Null Hypothesis, H1 Mean of MOBIL = Mean of MARKET Alternative Hypothesis, H0 Mean of MOBIL ? Mean of MARKET It is sour that the variances are unequal. From the analysis, the computed t-statistic (0.2285) is not greater than the tabulated t-statistic (1.9801). Hence we fail to reject the null hypothesis and conclude that the mean of the monthly returns of Mobil Oil is equal to that of the market portfolio at 95% confidence level. The 95% confidence

Ancient History - Rome - Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus Essay

Ancient History - Rome - Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus - Essay ExampleTiberius Gracchus saw himself as the champion of the ladened and was determined to plump for their interests. His desire for re-election to the tribunal was driven by his conviction that he should continue as their spokesman and patron and was willing to use violence to defend what he conceived to be his and their rights. Scipio Nasica and his supporters treated Tiberius as a tyrant and ultimately killed him. This is not because they were opposed to the land bill but by the tactics which he employed the deposition of Octavius, the proposal to use Attalus legacy and the candidature for re-election. The difficulty with any question about Gracchus intentions is that enough evidence does not exist and we entertain to interpret these through reference to an overall view of Gracchus political aims and personal character. Some historians argue that the main beneficiaries, targeted by Tiberius Gracchus, were the Romans, and this was because he believed that they would first pass the interrogation and then vote for him i.e. his motivations were political. Others argue that the reason why Tiberius failed to include Italians in his programs was that he was only interested in helping Roman citizens, who could enrol in the legions. If this were so he would not have distributed land to non-Romans. For many people, Tiberius actions no doubt suggested the possibility of a political coup, with overtones of the rise of another Tarquinius Superbus, and the only resort, in the Roman system of the time was to resort to violence.

A mother looks for a gift for her niece and specifically asks the attendant where the girls section is and even remarks on the need to categorize the store properly. This incident reflects how starting from toy stores, labeling is important to emphasize gender roles. The article cites Laura Nelson, a neuroscientist and head of Breakthrough which addresses stereotyping, who remarks that Gender-specific-color-coding influences the activities children choose, the skills they build and ultimately the roles they take in society (Bennhold par.7). ... This will be all well except that there also exists a pay gap where women earn approximately 16% less than their male counterparts from male-dominated industries. This also affects leadership as spirited positions are seen to be more conquer for male employees. Leadership is associated with male qualities like aggressiveness and risk-taking (Bennhold par.10). This can be seen even in politics and other areas of society where males usually take high positions faster than do women. To date, the country is yet to elect a female president. Nevertheless, there are toy stores and countries that aim to address the elimination of gender stereotyping through toys. Sweden has implemented governmental measures which foster neutrality in order to prevent gender stereotyping. Industrial Salmon Farming Essay Example for Free

Industrial Salmon Farming EssayFish farming, also cognize as Aquaculture, is an industry that uses sea life for commercial purposes. One of the most common fish species that ar farmed worldwide is pink-orange. Most of the pink-orange Americans consume atomic number 18 farmed in British Columbia and grow in open net cages placed directly in the ocean creating environmental threats in alone beas it takes place. The paradox with open net cages that are placed directly in the ocean is the release of ocean harming farm waste, chemicals, and disease. Before these problems can be solved, a construction at the chromatic net cage industry is needed, along with the environmental impacts. plain-spoken cages are not secure in fact many farmed pinkish-orange can escape, escapees usually occur during storms or damages made to the net by their predators. According to Oceana.org Atlantic Salmon escapes on the U.S. and Canadian west coasts are common there were 350,000 know escapes in 1 997 and farmed Atlantic Salmon have been found thousands of miles away from the closest salmon facilities. (Farmed Fish Escapes) The problem with escapees is that they are known to travel long ways and carry diseases. Farmers are encouraged to treat farmed salmon with antibiotics sense they are in open net cages in the ocean, and are prone to diseases found in the ocean.Farmed Salmon are sterilized with antibiotics to keep other wild fish safe the concern with the use of antibiotics in farmed salmon is that many of these antibiotics are also used to treat human diseases. Scientist Cabello works in the department of microbiology says the industry continues to rely on these treatments, administered in net-cages open to the ocean, patronage growing concerns over antibiotic resistance.(Cabello) The antibiotics used to treat farmed salmon are becoming resistant to antibiotics making it more difficult to treat human diseases because it allows microbes to arrest resistant to antibiotic tr eatments, making it more difficult to treat human disease. (farmedanddangerous.org) Salmon farming in British Columbia can resolved by simply by separating the farmed salmon from the open net cages and into a land facility. Farming salmon on land decreases a lot of health risks, slight escapees, and chemical waste.According to David Suzuki founder of The David Suzuki foundation he states Evidence shows that land-based, closed-containment aquaculture is an environmentally, technically, and economically viable option to net-pen aquaculture. (Suzuki) Operating a land-based facility is affordable when it comes down to all costs to the environment it decreases environmental issues that can be a greater issue in the future. The good news is that in Canada, Washington State, and Tasmania closed containment salmon farming is being practiced ( gross(a)salmon.org). A company that is practicing closed containment farming is AgriMarine, on the website Puresalom.org they examine and state will yield all-year-round crops of ecologically sound salmon, elevated in environmentally safe closed facilities a first in an entire industry. (qtd. In AgriMarine) Land-based salmon farms remove the risk of escaped salmon and contamination of the ocean. Open net-cage salmon farms are a serious threat to the balance of life in the ocean and to wild salmon in particular. The solution is to grow salmon on land facilities it creates a barrier between farmed salmon and the ocean, it helps to protect the ecosystem and wild salmon from the problems caused by industrial salmon farming.Work CitedAgriMarine qtd in Pure Salmon Campaign Solutions Puresalmon.org N.P. web. 12 July 2014 David Suzuki Foundation. Public and social issues EssaySlowly there was huge contr everywheresy regarding the appearance in which domain names were allocated and provided registration by the NSI. There was a huge increase in the trademark disputes especially in the . com TLD domain. The IANA had no touch on for legal issues over the domain name allocations. Hence, many nations including the US had concern over the allocation of domain names over the cyberspace . In 1997, the heed of several generic TLDs were handed over to the International Ad Hoc Committee (IAHC). The organisation helped in framing 7 new generic TLDs and ensuring greater amount of healthy competition in the second level domain names .The NSI and the IANA were together concerned with the development of a set of rules and regulations for the appointee of domain names. They developed a corporation that would have jurisdiction for the assignment of domain names throughout the world. This organisation (ICANN) also helped in the develop ment of rules and regulations for the internet domain names. The US DOC also played a major role in the development of the ICANN. The final version of the bylaws by the ICANN was released on October 2, 1998, and released by the DOC.On November 1998, the ICANN and the DOC decidedly to jointly design rules, regulations, mechanisms and methods to ensure Domain name functions. The DOC and opposite organisations were interested in bringing about transgress competition and ensuring stability. The role of the US government was slowly being transferred to the ICANN. The NSI also changed its name to Verisign. It was concerned with developing a shared registration system and provides service under the generic TLDs such(prenominal) as . com, . net, etc. Verisign has to sell certain number of registers in order to have authority of the . com register in 2001.However, some of the registries of Verisign and ICANN still are shared from May 2001. Verisign would ope treasure various registries suc h as the . org register till 2002, the . net registry till 2005, the . com registry till 2007. The ICANN has allocated the . org registry from 2002 to 2008 to Public Internet Registry and Verisign for the . net registry from 2005 to 2011 . The domain name has turned out to be a huge line of work model for several companies. The ads-per-click policy, which would ensure that advertisements placed in the domain name would reconcile more money than the domain itself, would ensure that the domain is continued. On the other hand, if the cost of the domain is more than the advertisements, then the domain is ceased for the next year. There is also a five-day grace period (following registration), which ensures that anybody who has registered a wrong domain plunder go back and correct his/her mistake. Today, domain names are created and dropped at a very fast rate, and hence, people are in huge confusions. This is casualty at a very fast rate, even faster than the rate trademarks are pic ked up and dropped. To ensure certain amount of control at the rate at which the domain names are picked up and dropped, the ICANN is monitoring several registries. It has given certain number of its registries to companies that can sell out domain name. such(prenominal) companies are known as registrars, and they would usually be working on the . com and . net TLD. However, the ICANN has introduced a 5 day window period, which would allow the registering body to earn changes or take back the domain name registration within a period of 5 days. The ICANN can also recommend the owner to make modify or even remove certain domain names registered during the window period. This would ensure that any illegal activities or potentially abuse over the internet can be prevented. At the same time, healthy competition can be encouraged over the internet . Since January 003, there has been a cutting in the management of the . org TLD from Verisign to the Public Internet Registry, which is an org anisation created in 2002 keeping the public internet in mind . During the mid-1990s, the US government decided to teddy several infrastructure and governance that the US government and the military had over the internet over to private bodies. The government felt that the main reason for implementing such policies were because the industry themselves can specialise in creating effective policies and ensure development and advancement through regulations and policies framed over internet. The US government also move to install several institutional controls means to ensure that the private bodies that had certain governance over the internet. Several organisations such as the ICANN and the IAHC also felt that the internationalist involvement was very important in developing a domain name policy.

Thiamine Functions and Structure

Thiamine Functions and StructureMarno Terblanche Clinical chemistry II BAssignmentOverviewAbout five million individuals in America suffer from heart failure, with an spare 550,000 new diagnosis made each year. The life expectancy of people living with this condition has gradually increased due to the availability of useful and schematic treatment opportunities. The percentage of mortality in the States continues to be high even though things like omega-3 fatty acids, -blockers and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors have split uped the circumstances of these people. Vitamin B1, or better known as Thiamine, plays an integral part in the treatment of heart failure and is regarded as a clinical signifi buttt factor in the public assistance of the heart. It also enhances the prognosis and general health of the patients. Heart failure raise be caused by trace mineral deficiencies such as vitamin B1 lack and in that locationfore antiberiberi factor supplementation can be of great assistance in the treatment of this condition (DiNicolantonio, 2013).Vitamin B1 was the first out of eight B-vitamins to be identified, and always since the discovery it was given several names, with Thiamine being used the to the highest degree (DiNicolantonio, 2013). It is a water-soluble vitamin, meaning that it cannot be stored by the body and is obtained through diet sources such as beef, nuts, milk and whole-grain foods (Ehrlich, 2011).Studies around the causes of beriberi by a Dutch physician and pathologist, Christiaan Eijkman, led to the discovery of Vitamin B1 in 1897. Beriberi is a widespread and sometimes deleterious disease associated with heart failure. By 1926, vitamin B1 was separated into its pure form and given the name antiberiberi factor (Vitamins in Motion, 2013).More about Thiamine (Vitamin B1)AbsorptionThe ducking of thiamine restrains place in the jejunum with the aid of two processes. An active transport system in the small intestines is respo nsible for the absorption of thiamine once the levels put down below normal. Once the levels are too high, an inactive mucosal process occurs. The small intestines are capable of absorbing about 5 mg of thiamine. Tissues can reserve up to 30 mg of thiamine. The storing of thiamine is very important as the body cannot produce its own. The liver, heart, kidneys and brain are some of the organs which stores thiamine, with most of it found in the skeletal muscles (Nguyen-Khoa, 2013).StructureThe structure of thiamine consists of a pyrimidine ring with the radical NH2 and a thiazole ring. These two rings are connected with genius another by means of a methylene bridge (Mouton, 20144). Thiamine found within living tissues have a diphosphate ester structure known as thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP). TPP serves as a coenzyme that binds tightly to the apoenzyme (Ball, 1998268).FunctionsThere are four structures of thiamine that are present in all human beings. They include thiamine monophospha te, thiamine diphosphate, thiamine triphosphate and unphosphorylated thiamine (DiNicolantonio, 2013). Thiamine is very important in the body as it operates as a coenzyme that converts carbohydrates into glucose, which in turn is used to go away energy. It also assists in the metabolism of fats and protein, and is inherent for healthy eyes, hair, skin and liver (Ehrlich, 2011). Thiamine monophosphate can actively move into the central nervous system and poise where it is capable of preserving the sodium and potassium parsimoniousnesss. Sodium and potassium is required for nerve impulse conduction, and therefore it is vital for these levels to be maintained (DiNicolantonio, 2013).Thiamine is occasionally referred to as an anti-stress vitamin because of its ability to support the immune system and improve the ability of a persons body to endure traumatic situations. People who suffer from vitamin B1 wish are deprived from these normal functions that the vitamin provides, and there fore they develop conditions such as dry and wet beriberi (Ehrlich, 2011).Thiamine deficiencyDiets that are low or inadequate in vitamin B1 can lead to Thiamine deficiency (beriberi) as well as constant (long-lasting) diarrhoea. Diarrhoea actually weakens the bodys capacity to take up vitamin B1 (Nguyen-Khoa, 2013).There are two forms of beriberi namely dry and wet beriberi. Dry beriberi involves the deficiency of thiamine that affects the nervous system while wet beriberi comprises of cardiovascular complications (DiNicolantonio, 2013).A potential reason as to why wet beriberi arises, because of thiamine deficiency, is based on the fact that ATP is depleted from the cardiac muscle cells. The decrease in ATP then leads to the weakening of the cardiac muscle, which in the long run causes heart failure. There will be an increase in the concentration of adenosine monophosphate in the cardiac muscle cells as a dissolver of the inability of the cells to produce ATP. The adenosine mono phosphate is then converted to adenosine, which then starts to accumulate in the cells and then last leading to its release into the plasma by the aid of a nucleoside transporter. The manifestation of general vasodilatation and headaches is due to adenosine in the plasma (DiNicolantonio, 2013).Features of wet beriberiAs a result of thiamine deficiency and specifically wet beriberi, patients will represent with cardiovascular symptoms. It will include swelling of cells and tissues because of excessive water build-up, lactic acidosis, fluid retention, systemic dilation of business line vessels and a high-or-low-output cardiac failure. In addition to the menti nonpareild symptoms other signs such as increased levels of catecholamine and low diastolic pressure may be evident of wet beriberi (DiNicolantonio, 2013).Shoshin beriberi is known as an acute version of wet beriberi and these patients may show signs of an acute cardiovascular collapse as well as metabolic acidosis. If left un treated (i.e. if thiamine is not injected immediately) it may lead to death (DiNicolantonio, 2013).EpidemiologyThe prevalence of beriberi may be associated with the fact that milled rice was consumed by some populations all over the world. The external part of the rice that contained thiamine was removed by the milling process. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) there is a significant improvement in Indonesia where this process of removing the outer crust was and still is implemented. Back in the day beriberi was widespread and a health concern, but currently the occurrence is less common than what it was. Beriberi has a tendency to affect infants between 1 and 4 months as well as adults (Knott, 2010).Measurement of thiamineDirect detection is one of the methods used to measure the concentration of thiamine in the system. It can also be measured by determining enzyme body process of those enzymes that require thiamine for optimal functioning. There is more than one me thod that can be used to measure thiamine levels. Urinary and serum thiamine level estimation, red blood cell transketolase and TPP (thiamine pyrophosphate) analysis is some of the methods available. It is important to measure thiamine stores and amongst all current tests available there is still no consistent test usable for this purpose. Thiamine will move to the liver and enter the red blood cells soon after it has been absorbed in the jejunum. The bar of thiamine in blood ranges from 60-120 g/L. From this total volume (concentration) about 80% will be found within the red blood cells. Because thiamine has a limited duration in the body, it is not reliable to measure serum levels or use it as a marker of thiamine stores (DiNicolantonio, 2013). liquidation of thiamine in the distal nephron is also directly associated with the amount of thiamine in blood. However, the concentration will be dependent on young intake only, and therefore isnt indicative of thiamine sites (for storag e) in the body. 24-hour urine samples are required for evaluating thiamine levels, and this may be tiresome for the individual (DiNicolantonio, 2013).So far the most effective and reliable test available is the erythrocyte transketolase activity assay that evaluates transketolase activity. In an artificial manner thiamine is added to the red blood cells followed by the measurement of transketolase activity. Transketolase cannot function without thiamine diphospahte. Because it requires the coenzyme for optimal functioning the action of the transketolase enzyme proves that there is indeed thiamine diphosphate in the cells. Since red blood cells are one of the first cell types to be affected by thiamine deficiency, it can be considered an accurate test procedure (DiNicolantonio, 2013).TreatmentThiamine supplements are essential to those individuals that suffer from dry or wet beriberi. It is recommended that 1.1-1.2 mg of thiamine supplements are administered on a daily basis. When it comes to wet beriberi the patient may require snow mg/day intravenous thiamine supplementation for more than a few days. It has also been suggested that individuals whose chances are higher of developing the deficiency should receive one C mg of supplements ternion times daily. In instances where there is a confirmed deficiency, an increased dosage of thiamine (from 100 to 200 mg) should be taken three times daily. The supplementation is critical for the management and treatment of this deficiency and it has been showed that there is substantial improvement in the condition after the person received treatment (DiNicolantonio, 2013).PrognosisBeriberi is not that difficult to treat. With proper treatment one can expect to see a significant recovery, even in more inexorable types of this deficiency. Within 12 hours of supplementation one can notice an improvement. Because treatment provides for more rapid recovery, it can almost be used as a diagnostic test. Overall the prognosis is fairly good (Nguyen-Khoa, 2013).ConclusionIndividuals who suffer from heart failure are more prone to develop vitamin deficiencies such as thiamine deficiency. It is therefore important to limit any nutritional defects to prevent such deficiencies from occurring. This is a controllable condition and with necessary treatment one can expect substantial improvements. The use of vitamin B1 has demonstrated to better heart function, urinary function as well as symptoms of heart failure (DiNicolantonio, 2013).ReferencesBall, G.F.M. (1998).
